Groton caps off Clark tourney with victory

CLARK – Groton used a late rally and the strong pitching performance by Bradin Althoff to secure a 4-1 American Leigon baseball win over Salem-McCook-Canova during the Clark Rotary Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Groton trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning before scoring three runs on a ground out and an error. Brevin Fliehs grounded out to drive in the first run while an error on the play led to two more runs coming in.

Cole Simon added an RBI single in the sixth frame.

Meanwhile, Althoff allowed just one run and scattered five hits over six innings. Althoff struck out six batters.

Ryan Groeblinghoff finished with three hits, including a double, to pace Groton.
