Groton suffers second setback at Clark tourney

CLARK – A late big inning propelled Linton-Ashley-Wishek, N.D., to an 11-2 American Legion baseball win over Groton during the Clark Rotary Tournament on Friday morning.

Groton trailed just 4-2 head into the bottom of the fourth inning before L-A-W exploded for seven runs.

Levi Keeney and Blake Goebel each drove in two runs during the uprising.

Earlier in the contest the North Dakota squad produced four runs on just one hit in the first inning.

Groton scored single runs in the third and fourth frames. Bradin Althoff had an RBI double in the third, and Gavin Englund doubled and scored on an error in the fourth.

Connor Kosiak had three hits, and Berkley Frantz added two for L-A-W.

Cole Simon’s two hits topped Groton.
