Lake Norden-Badger wins, Redfield falls in Region 5B

ALEXANDRIA – Lake Norden-Badger moved into the title game of the Region 5B baseball tourney with a 9-3 victory over Salem-Montrose-Canova on Wednesday night.

Cristhian Rodriguez racked up 10 strikeouts in going the distance for the pitching victory.

Lake Norden-Badger trailed 3-2 before breaking the game open with seven runs in the sixth inning. Kamden Keszler had an RBI single, Tyson Stevenson drove in a pair with a single, Dawson Noem delivered a two-run double, and George Jensen pounded a two-run home run during the uprising.

Rodriguez and Rylan Thue each had a pair of hits, while Jensen drove in three runs, and Stevenson and Noem each plated two in the victory.

Lake Norden-Badger will play in the title contest on Friday. Salem-Montrose-Canova is hosting the State B tourney this year and gets an automatic bid.

Alexandria 2, Redfield 0

Redfield had its season come to a close in a 2-0 setback to Alexandria.

Jayce Slaba drove in both runs in the contest, with an RBI single in the third, and a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Redfield had runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh, before a strikeout ended the game.

Elijah Morrissette struck out five batters in six-plus innings for Redfield.

REGION 1B

CASTLEWOOD – Sisseton received a two double from Max Dahlen with nobody out in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk off Milbank 5-4 in opening round action in Region 1B. Sisseton’s Carter Stickland led off the inning with a single and came home with the winning run.

The two teams battled to even terms through the first five innings, each scoring four runs.

Josh Pederson and Mack Koplin each had two hits for Milbank, while Stickland and Dahlen each had a pair of hits for Sisseton, and Mikah Hamm contributed two RBI.

Castlewood 10, Webster 5

Castlewood overcame an early three-run deficit to take down Webster 10-5 in the first round. Castlewood responded with three runs in the second, and after Webster went up 5-3 in the third, Castlwood scored times in the fifth and twice in the sixth to take control.

Kaden Nedved and Josh Jensen each two hits in the victory, while Talen Olson drove in three runs, and Brody Bass and Kolby Davis each plated a pair.

Big Stone City 12, Sisseton 2

Big Stone City scored seven times in the second inning to fuel a 12-2 win over Sisseton. Connor Danielsen had three hits in the victory.

Sisseton received singles from Carter Stickland, Max Dahlen, Rory Current, and Boe Iverson.

Milbank 14, Webster 4

Milbank racked up 17 hits, including seven doubles, on the way to eliminating Webster 14-4.

Mason Meister and Tanner Hallquist each had three hits for Milbank. Dillen Scheeley, Joe Schulte, Mack Koplin, Jayce Jonason, and Aiden Kelly each had a pair of hits in the victory. Scheeley and Schulte each finished with four RBI, and Meister drove in three.

Ian Lesnar topped Webster with three hits.
