Groton girls win, boys draw with St. Thomas More

RAPID CITY – The Groton girls outscored St. Thomas More 6-1, while the Groton boys ended in a 1-1 draw with the Cavaliers in soccer action on Saturday.

Groton’s Gage Sippel racked up a whopping 33 saves against STM. Karson Zak scored the lone goal for the Tigers.

McKenna Tietz, who had three goals on Friday, capped the weekend trip with two more goals on Saturday. She found the back of the net in each half for the Tigers. Brooklyn Hansen also had a pair of goals in the victory.

Groton also received scores from Kennedy Hansen and Laila Roberts.

Tigers goalie Jaedyn Penning recorded a rare assist during the contest. Penning punted the ball, which bounced three times, before Tietz chipped it over the STM goaltender.
