Pugh, Braun, Roehrich tied for Sanford Futures lead

LARCHWOOD, Iowa. – Three area golfers sit atop the leaderboard in the girls’ division following the opening round of the Sanford Futures Championship on Monday. Miller’s Jayce Pugh, Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun, and Clark’s Brynn Roehrich are all tied for first place.

All three golfers shot a 5-over-par 77 during the opening round. Pugh jumped out to an early lead and never fell out of first place before the other two golfers eventually tied her before the end of the round.

Claire Crawford of Aberdeen is in 14th following a round of 95.

In the boys’ division, Parker Block of Walker Hackensack Akeley leads by two strokes after shooting a 67. Milbank’s Jonathan DeBoer is currently tied for 10th with a 76.

Action concludes today. Braun will be in search of her third consecutive Sanford Futures title.
