REDFIELD – Redfield Dairy Queen scored it every inning but one on the way to a 12-2 seven-inning win over Groton Locke Electric to win the Northern Plains League district championship in Amateur baseball Thursday night. Fourth-rated Class B DQ improved to 19-0 on the season.
Redfield scored a dozen runs on just five hits, taking advantage of 11 walks and three hit batters. DQ also stole 13 bases in the contest.
Groton’s Cole Simon had the first of his two doubles in the top of the first inning and scored on a single by Ben Althoff. Redfield responded with two runs in the bottom of the fame on Bennett Osborn’s two-run double.
Locke Electric tied the score in the top of the second on Mike Frey’s RBI single, before Redfield took control with 10 unanswered runs. DQ scored three times in the second, two coming in on Osborn’s two-run home run.
Redfield scored three times in the fourth on a passed ball, ground out and wild pitch, twice in the fifth on two wild pitches, and then tacked on two more runs in the sixth on Christian DeYoung’s two-run home run.
Bennett Osborn finished with two hits, four RBI, and scored twice, while Camden Osborn scored four times and stole three bases. Redfield will now advance to the State B Amateur Tournament next week in Mitchell.

Simon and Austin Jones each had a pair of hits to top Groton, which now faces the Northville Merchants tonight with the winner also advancing to the state tourney.
