HARTFORD – Aberdeen Roncalli put its top three golfers in the top 12 en route to a fourth place team finish at the West Central Invitational Tuesday at Central Valley Golf Course.

Finn Anderson and Jesse Hernandez each carded rounds of 75 to finish in a tie for fourth place. The Cavalier duo was just five shots back of individual medalist Logan Collette of Dakota Valley, who was 2-under par with a 70 for the day.

“Overall, very happy with the start that the boys have done in the last two meets,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy.

Lucas Daggett’s round of 79 put him in a tie for 12th in the individual standings.

Gannon May (95, T-55th), Matt Gerlach (100, T-71st) and Owen Vogel (103, T-76th) rounded out the Cavalier contingent.

“Many mistakes happened today that we can learn from,” Murdy said. “We now know what we need to improve on with our tournament rounds.”

Roncalli’s fourth place effort put the Cavaliers in the midst of a competitive top five in the 16-team field.

“I’m happy we went to this invite to see how we match up with the best teams in the state,” Murdy said.

The Cavaliers are back in action Thursday at the Milbank Invitational at Whetstone Creek Golf Course.
