REDFIELD – Aberdeen Roncalli double-dipped in the win column Tuesday afternoon, claiming both team and individual medalist honors at the boys’ golf Redfield Invitational at Fisher Grove Golf Course.

“I was very proud of the boys,” said Roncalli assistant coach Rachel Murdy. “Team win and individual medalist was a great day in 30 mph wind.”

Finn Anderson topped the 40-man field with an even-par round of 70. That effort bested Milbank’s Jonathan DeBoer by a single stroke for the individual victory. Groton’s Brevin Fliehs finished fifth with a score of 74.

Anderson was two under after nine holes and then had a couple of doubles, Murdy said. He then closed strong with pars and a birdie on the final four holes to claim the victory.

Meanwhile, Roncalli’s Jesse Hernandez carded a round of 75 to finish in sixth place, followed closely by Lucas Daggett’s 77, which tied him for seventh place.

“Jesse really kept his head in the game,” Murdy said. “His driver shaft snapped right on his first tee, but that didn’t stop him. Thankfully Redfield is short and he was just fine without it.”

Matthew Gerlach had an 85 for the Cavaliers, his best round of the season.

All told, Roncalli finished with a team total of 307, eight strokes ahead of the Watertown JV squad and nine strokes better than third place Groton.
