BRANDON – Tyler Bain scored a game-tying goal with a little over 10 minutes left in the game to pull Aberdeen Central to a 2-2 draw with Brandon Valley Saturday afternoon in Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ soccer action.

The Lynx led 1-0 at the half, and 2-1 midway through the second after a penalty kick.

Bain, however, punched in a goal as the half wound down to prevent the Golden Eagles from taking the loss.

“We started slow today, then got it going in the second half,” said Central coach Lance Mohr.

Central had tied the game with an own goal early in the second half before giving up the penalty kick opportunity that gave Brandon Valley its second lead of the day.

“That stuff happens sometimes,” Mohr said. “We couldn’t get out of our own way a little bit.”

The draw comes on the heels of a home win over Huron earlier in the week. Central is now 5-1-2 on the season.

“It isn’t the worst result, but it’s a little disappointing,” Mohr said. “It’s one to look back on and say, ‘Man, if we would have just played better in the first half.”

Central will host Sioux Falls Roosevelt on Tuesday.
