IPSWICH – Aberdeen Christian split four volleyball matches during the Ipswich Invitational on Saturday, gaining a measure of revenge in the process.

The Knights fell to North Central in extra points in the third set, before rebounding to edge Herreid-Selby Area in three sets. Christian then was swept by Milbank, and swept Timber Lake

“The girls played so well today,” said Christian coach Sara Powell. “Came out slow against North Central, but Ari (Johnson) was killing with the blocks.”

Johnson had five solo blocks and one assist in that match.

The Knights then defeated Herreid-Selby Area, a team they had lost to earlier this season.

“We knew we had to be mentally ready to play HSA with minimal errors, and we did,” Powell said.

However, that momentum was not sustainable as the errors crept into play in the setback against Milbank.

“The girls ran out of energy playing Milbank,” Powell said. “Too many errors on us really hurt.”

The Knights, 8-7 on the season, are right back in action Monday night, hosting cross-town foe Aberdeen Roncalli at the Christian School Gym.
