For the first time this young volleyball season, Aberdeen Christian jumped in front, played with a lead the entire match, and recorded a sweep over Sunshine Bible Friday night.

The Knights collected their first win of the year with a 25-13, 25-15, 25-10 non-conference triumph at the Christian School Gym.

“I told the girls to go and have fun, and run different routes,” said Christian coach Sara Powell.

After dropping six hard-fought sets to a pair of teams with a combined record of 12-1 on the season, the Knights took control early and set the tone for the evening against the Crusaders.

“It was fun,” Powell said. “They did great.”

Christian featured a balanced attack on the evening. Arianna Johnson led the team with 10 kills. Jolie Fogarty contributed six aces, seven kills and seven digs. Payton Skarin also finished with seven kills.

Sawyer Schwan topped the Knights with seven aces, and 28 set assists. Alexis Isakson had a team-leading 14 digs.

Christian, 1-2 on the season, will host Langford Area on Tuesday in a Lake Region Conference match.

“We are ready for the next game and more competition,” Powell said.
