Leiseth finishes fifth at world championships

PERU – Former Hamlin standout and current University of Florida thrower Gracelyn Leiseth had strong performances at the U20 World Championships this past weekend.

The second-team All-American selection last spring, who is a sophomore at Florida, earned fifth place in the discus with a throw of 173-feet, 4 inches. Leiseth also just missed making the finals in the shot put, taking 13th with a throw of 43-feet 3 inches.

Leiseth was a three-time Gatorade South Dakota Track and Field Athlete of the Year recipient.

The U20 World Championships featured 1,500 athletes from 130 nations.
