A look back at some of the sports happenings during the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 5:

Last year on Sept. 29, 2023: Clark native and pro golfer Kim Kaufman joined former Texas Tech football coaches Kliff Kingsbury and Mike Leach (1961-2022) among others as inductees to the school’s Hall of Fame. Kaufman was a four-time All-American and the first women’s golfer in school history to earn a No. 1 ranking in the nation. Other inductees were Gonzalo Escobar (men’s tennis), Greg Lowery (men’s basketball), Matt Wingo (football), Jason Young (track and field) and Cathy Carlson (women’s tennis).

10 years ago on Sept. 28, 2014: A streak of playing in 115 straight regular-season NFL games came to an end for injured Minnesota Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway (broken hand and rib) of Mount Vernon.

20 years ago on Oct. 1, 2004: Britton-Hecla (6-0) defeated Aberdeen Roncalli (5-1) 20-17 in overtime. Levi Peters rushed for 185 yards on 40 carries, including running for the winning 10-yard touchdown in overtime.

30 years ago on Sept. 30, 1994: Wally Grage scored five touchdowns to pace Timber Lake past McIntosh 37-35. Trampas Ten Broek passed for two TDs and Preston Mollman scored two TDs for McIntosh.

40 years ago on Oct. 5, 1984: Mike Flakus scored four touchdowns to push Colome past Harrold 39-14.

50 years ago on Oct. 4, 1974: Jeff Lamb scored the tying touchdown and the winning conversion to give Sully Buttes a 34-32 win in the third overtime over Wessington Springs. Randy Hughart charted 19 tackles for the winners.
