RUSH CITY, Minn. – Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun capped a remarkable summer of golf by winning another tournament over the weekend.

The junior at Aberdeen Central captured the girls’ championship at the Minnesota Junior Open on Sunday. Braun finished the two-day tourney 16 strokes ahead of her nearest competitor.

Braun shot an 81 on Saturday and an 82 on Sunday to finish with a 36-hole total of 163.

It was an eventful summer for Braun, who won the SDGA Girl’s Junior Championship, was a finalist at the SDGA Women’s Match Play Championship, and was runner-up at the SDGA Women’s Amateur Championship. Braun was also this year’s SDGA Sanford Golf Series Champion, and was runner-up at the Class AA State Girls’ Golf Tournament. She also won numerous SDGA Junior Tour events, and last month was one of 80 teen golfers selected to play at Pebble Beach.
