PIERRE – Aberdeen Central overcame a slow start to claim its second Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball road sweep in the past week on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles rallied from a first-set deficit for a 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 win over Pierre, coming on the heels of a road victory over Tea Area.

“It took us a while to settle in to the match,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel. “Pierre jumped out to an 11-4 lead in set one, but then we were able to get some stops and run our offense.”

Taylin Kleffman topped the Golden Eagles with three ace serves and 21 digs.

“It’s been fun to watch her progress this year,” Bindenagel said. “She’s an awesome kid to coach … so hard working. This whole crew is fun to coach.”

Lauryn Burckhard had a dozen kills, followed by Kamdyn Borge with 11. Alivia Miller had 30 set assists.

Central, winners of three straight and five of its last six, is now 10-4 on the season. The Golden Eagles host top-rated and unbeaten Harrisburg on Thursday night at Golden Eagles Arena.
