Net play powers Central to road sweep over Tea Area

TEA – Aberdeen Central racked up 47 kills on the way to an Eastern South Dakota Conference volleyball win over Tea Area Tuesday night.

The Golden Eagles won by set scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-20.

Central went 89 for 99 in attacks to help make up for a rough serving night that featured 15 errors.

“We struggled serving tonight,” said Central coach Jackie Bindenagel, “but we were really efficient at the net, and our hitters took care of the ball.”

Lauryn Burckhard led the hitting assault with 18 kills, and Kenadi Withers followed with 15. Kamdyn Borge contributed eight.

Alivia Miller had 40 set assists to go along with 12 digs.

Central improved to 9-4 on the season with the victory. The Golden Eagles have a match at Pierre on Saturday.

Serving: Aberdeen Central 58-73 3 aces (Alivia Miller 10-12 1 ace, Abigail DeVries 7-9 1 ace, Lauryn Burckhard 8-11 1 ace).

Hitting: Aberdeen Central 89-99 47 kills (Burckhard 39-44 18 kills, Kenadi Withers 23-25 15 kills, Kamdyn Borge 18-19 8 kills).

Setting: Aberdeen Central 90-91 44 assists (Miller 82-83 40 assists).

Digs: Aberdeen Central 50 (Withers 12, Miller 12, Kennedy Osborne 11, Taylin Kleffman 10).

Blocks: Aberdeen Central 4 solo (Amelia Rife 3, Burckhard 1).

Records: Aberdeen Central 9-4; Tea Area 0-16.
