The accomplishments of the regular season have been documented, conference titles secured, and now the postseason journey begins as Class A volleyball squads compete in regional tournaments this week.

The top two seeds in the state reside in the area with Miller and Hamlin.

A pair of squads from each region will head to SoDak 16 action the following week.

Here is a look at each region involving area teams:

Region 1A

Tuesday and Thursday

Top-seeded Groton did not lose to a single in-region foe and will own the home-court advantage in this one. The Tigers have a solid group of multiple-sport athletes, many of which played in the Class A state soccer championship this past fall.

Aberdeen Roncalli is the second seed, and its only in-region loss was to Groton. The Cavaliers closed the season with a flurry, winning six of their last seven matches, the only setback coming to the top-overall seed in Class A Miller.

Sisseton, Webster, and Britton-Hecla all have winning records and will present challenges before this region is settled.

Groton 18-6

Aberdeen Roncalli 14-8

Region 2A

Tuesday and Thursday

This region is absolutely loaded.

It is the only region, Class A or B, in the area that features five teams with at least 15 victories and three squads with at least 20 wins.

Hamlin is the top seed and has just one loss this year, that coming to Dell Rapids, a squad that was rated in the top five all season, including several weeks at number one.

Great Plains Lutheran at 22-5 lost to only one region foe, Hamlin, but will likely face 21-6 Sioux Valley in the semifinals. GPL won a previous match in straight sets.

Clark-Willow Lake, 17-7, is looking for a rematch against Hamlin in the semis. The Cyclones owned an 8-5 lead in the fifth set just last week before Hamlin prevailed.
