NSU caps off weekend volleyball with victory over Wildcats

WAYNE, Neb. – It proved to be a successful weekend of action for the Northern State volley ball team. One day after recording a five-set win over Sioux Falls, the Wolves stopped Wayne State in five sets on Saturday.

Northern handed 10th-rated Wayne just its third home loss of the season with a 25-18, 18-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-11 come-from-behind Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory.

The Wolves, rated 22nd, were led by 60 set assists from setter Keri Walker.

A trio of hitters combined for 53 kills for Northern. Hanna Thompson and Natalia Szybinska each finished with 18, and Morrisen Samuels contributed 17.

Abby Meister led the NSU defense with 29 digs.

The Wolves, 19-5 overall and 15-5 in the NSIC, close out the regular season by hosting Augustana at 6 p.m. Friday, and Southwest Minnesota State 3 p.m. at Wachs Arena.
