Miller’s Jolie Palmer has been named a South Dakota Volleyball Coaches Association Class A first-team all-state selection for the second straight season. Just a junior, Palmer helped to lead the Rustlers to a fifth-place finish in last week’s state tournament.
Several other area players also earned all-state recognition. Here is a look at each of those players, followed by the complete first and second teams, and honorable mention lists.
FIRST TEAM
Jolie Palmer, Miller: Palmer is a two-time first-year Class A all-state member. She had 81 aces, 515 digs, 67 assists, 13 kills, and had a 97 percent serve receive total this season. “Jolie is one of the best on both sides of the ball with her first ball contact on serve receive to begin our offense and on defense with the dig,” said Miller coach Linda DeBoer. “She reads the opponent’s offense with her high volleyball IQ which enables her to read where the ball is going and make the play. She is a great position leader and motivational leader on the court and off. She shares her vision and court awareness with her teammates, making her an excellent example of what our communication should sound like. Jolie is a quick and agile athlete who uses that to her advantage to be a great defender.”
SECOND TEAM
Addison Neuendorf, Hamlin: Neuendorf has racked up impressive totals as a junior for the Chargers. This past season she had 380 kills, 50 aces, 24 set assists, 378 digs, 7 solo blocks, and 10 assists to run her career totals to 1,035 kills, 254 aces, 942 set assists, 1,529 digs, 38 blocks, and 86 assists. “Addie is a tremendous competitor, and everything she does is at the highest level,” said Hamlin coach Ashley Heinrich. “She absolutely deserves being recognized on the All-State team as her stats, and her play clearly show she is one of the best volleyball players in the state of South Dakota. I could not be more proud of her work ethic and dedication to her teammates.”

HONORABLE MENTION
Charley Henderson, Mobridge-Pollock. Henderson left her mark on the Tigers’ program. She led the team with 350 kills and 50 blocks (18 solo and 32 assists) this season, was second with 332 digs, and had 58 aces. She finished her career with 1,003 kills, 174 aces, 620 digs, 54 solo blocks, and 142 assists. “Charley really worked hard this past off season to become a quicker and more powerful volleyball player. You could see that hard work pay off in her attacking and defense,” said Mobridge-Pollock coach Rose Henderson. “She played all six rotations so we could take advantage of her powerful back row attack. She is a smart volleyball player, great leader on and off the court, and she will be missed next year.“
Abby Kjenstad, Great Plains Lutheran: This record-setting player finished her senior season with 333 kills, 50 blocks, 34 aces and 425 digs. “Abby has a true gift on the court. She is a very team focused and a dynamic outside hitter for GPL,” said Panthers coach Jacklyn Karli. “She helped lead her team to a school record 23-6 record, ECC title, and second place in Region 2A. This season, Abby set the single season kills record at GPL, with 333 kills. She was voted ECC MVP. She also served as a team captain.”
