MADISON – Aberdeen Central’s Lin Paw Jone claimed championship honors in the 145 pound bracket to pace the Golden Eagles to a team title at the Madison Invitational Saturday.

Central earned the team title despite having just nine girls in action at the tournament.

“They wrestled well and won some big matches,” said Central coach Jake Flakus.

Jone was joined in the championship round by Madison Little (100) and Jasmine Maas (126). Both wrestlers settled for runner-up finishes.

Other place-winners included Ula Martin (4th, 114), Allison Neitzel (4th, 132), Rakyrah Wallace (4th, 138), Grace Reszler (5th, 152) and Augustine Hieb (5th, 185).

“Lin Paw Jone had a great day as the 145 champ,” Flakus said. “We had a lot of other good efforts and pins, which helped us claim our first place finish in the team standings. I’m proud of the effort they gave, and it was a nice way to finish before Christmas break.”

Central is off until returning to action Dec. 30 when the Golden Eagles host to Mitchell in an Eastern South Dakota Conference dual at Golden Eagles Arena.
