BRANDON – The Aberdeen Cougars received goals from seven different players on the way to an 11-4 boys’ hockey win over the Brandon Valley IceCats Friday night.
Aiden Posthumus led the offensive assault with three goals and also added an assist. Karsten Jeschke contibuted a pair of goals.
“We played well offensively and generated a lot of offensive zone time and quality scoring chances,” said Cougars coach Jeremey Backous. “I thought me moved the puck well.”
Aberdeen scored four goals in the both the first and second periods, and three more in the third.
The Cougars also received goals from Derek Holland, Lleyton Kleffman, Trayke Roehrich, Jack Podoll, Devon Fischbach, and Drake Witte.
Brandon Valley did find the back of the net four times, including three times in the final period.
“On the defensive side, we have to play harder in our defensive zone,” Backous said. “The goals we gave up were breakdowns in front of our net. We need to be better at picking up the open guy and clearing rebounds.”
The Cougars take on Sioux Falls East this evening.
