Fast start propels Coyotes past Christian girls

WAVERLY – Waverly-South Shore jumped out to a 10-3 lead midway through the opening period and never looked back on the way to a 45-18 non-conference girls’ basketball win over Aberdeen Christian Thursday night.

The Coyotes did not give up more than six points in any quarter as the hosts steadily built on their lead throughout the contest. Waverly-South Shore broke the game open with a 19-4 surge in the opening half.

Carlee Mushitz tossed in 16 points to lead three players in double-figure scoring for Waverly-South Shore.

Jolie Fogarty led Christian 11 points, but no other Knights player managed more than two points on the evening.

Christian, 0-6 on the season, hosts Wolsey-Wessington on Tuesday at the Aberdeen Civic Arena.
