REDFIELD – Aberdeen Christian handled the pressure out front before taking control inside on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights got the ball inside and came away with a 76-63 non-conference boys’ basketball win over Timber Lake during the Redfield Classic.

“I was happy with our composure during their trap/press,” said Christian coach Matt Rohrbach. “We did a good job of using our size and making sure we had good disciplined offense.”

The Knight started pulling away in the second quarter opening an 11-point halftime advantage. Christian then exploded for 24 third-quarter points to double that margin to a 22-point spread at 57-35.

The Panthers clawed back to within 61-49 with 5:18 remaining, before Christian quickly reopened a 20-point advantage on the way to the victory.

Brooks Jett scored a game-high 24 points for Christian. Luke Kaiser added 12 points, Ellis Russell added 11 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, and Jett Johnson finished with nine points, as the Knights consistently spotted open teammates for high-percentage shots.

“The kids do a great job playing for each other,” Rohrbach said.

Kanton Hunt led a balanced attack for Timber Lake with 11 points. Treyden Beer contributed 10, and Gavin Farlee had nine.

Christian is now 6-2 after winning five of its last six games.

“It’s fun to go on a little winning streak,” Rohrbach said, “and to see everyone start to believe in what we are building as a team.”
