FAULKTON – The Aberdeen Christian boys’ basketball squad claimed its fourth straight notch in the win column Tuesday night, as the Knights pulled away from Faulkton 65-48 in Lake Region Conference play.

The Knights put together a balanced effort in the scoring column, finishing with six players with seven or more points. Brooks Jett led the way with 16 points, followed by Dylan Hofer, Luke Kaiser and Ethan Biel with nine, Jett Johnson with eight and Grady Jett with seven.

Biel and Grady Jett came off the bench for their efforts, providing a spark for the Knights.

“That’s always the goal,” said Christian coach Matt Rohrbach of his team’s ability to find scoring opportunities throughout the lineup. “Really happy for guys like Grady Jett and Dylan Hofer, who don’t always get the opportunities to score.”

Rohrbach said his squad was smart about the way it approached the game.

“I was really happy with our ability to take what the defense gave us,” he said. “We had a lot of open 3s tonight, and I believe we made nine as a team. The bench gave us a lot of energy, especially Ethan Biel. It was great to see his hard work pay off and see him contribute to the team in a big way.”

The Knights used their length, particularly that of Brooks Jett in the middle, to jump out to an early 12-5 lead after the first quarter, then pulled steadily away the rest of the night, putting up 20 points in both the third and fourth quarters of action.

In addition to his scoring prowess, Brooks Jett and teammate Ellis Russell each pulled down six rebounds, as the Knights held a 31-22 advantage on the boards. Hofer added three steals, three assists and three rebounds to his line, as well.

“We are happy with the win and we look forward to continuing to build our culture as we get closer and closer to region play,” Rohrbach said.

Faulkton got a dozen points apiece from Trey Machtemes and Korbin Stark. Gian DiMaria added 10 points. Stark and Spencer Melius had five rebounds apiece.

Christian, now 7-2 overall, heads to Waubay-Summit Thursday for a doubleheader, and will return home next Tuesday to face Herreid-Selby Area.

Faulkton (4-7) heads to Ipswich on Friday.
