NSU women pressure Duluth into home victory

Northern State turned defense into offense at Wachs Arena Friday night.

The Wolves scored 25 points off of turnovers and claimed a 73-43 win over Minnesota-Duluth in Northern Sun Intercollege Conference women’s basketball action.

NSU broke the game open in the second quarter when it outscored the Bulldogs 26-6. The Wolves played with a double-digit lead the rest of night on the way to winning their third straight contest.

Madelyn Bragg led four players in double-figure scoring for the Wolves with 18 points as Northern collected 42 points in the paint. Rianna Fillipi had 15 points and Alayna Benike 13 points, and each grabbed eight rebounds. Fillip spearheaded NSU’s defensive attack with six steals.

Izzy Moore made all six of her shots from the field and finished with 12 points.

The Wolves, 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the NSIC, are back in action today when they host Concordia-St. Paul at 4 p.m. at Wachs Arena.
