Second half powers Duluth past NSU men

Northern State built a 14-point first-half lead only to watch Minnesota-Duluth storm back in the second half Friday night at Wachs Arena.

The Bulldogs, who began building momentum at the close of the first half, broke free down the stretch on the way to an 83-72 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men’s basketball victory.

The visitors inched ahead by two points at the half and eventually led by as many as 16 at 76-60 to help secure the victory.

NSU shot 50 percent from three-point range and had 24 assists on the night, led by Marcus Burks with eight.

Devon Brooke lead a balanced scoring attack for the Wolves with 16 points. Tobi Obiora followed with 12, Kaleb Mitchell contributed 10, and James Glenn, Kwat Abdelkarim, and Braeden VanBockern each finished with nine.

Northern fell to 1-12 overall and 0-7 in the NSIC. The Wolves will host Concordia-St. Paul at 6 tonight at Wachs Arena.
