WAUBAY – Waubay-Summit held Aberdeen Christian scoreless in the second quarter on the way to a non-conference girls’ basketball victory Thursday night.

The Mustangs 18 unanswered points in the second period of a 42-18 win.

Christian regrouped in the second half and outscored the hosts by three points in the final 16 minutes.

“That was a tough first half, but a very good second half,” said Christian coach Andre Cobbs. “We actually spread the ball around pretty good and had six players on the scoreboard.”

However, the same issues that have plagued the Knights all season were a major problem against Waubay-Summit.

The Mustangs forced 23 turnovers and prevented Christian from getting into its offensive sets.

“The same issue, we have a tough time handling a press and then getting into plays,” Cobbs said. “We have the press break itself down, but we still can’t get into our offense.”

Brianna Lindholm scored 12 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for the Mustangs. Faith Larson followed with 10, and Kayce Berger contributed nine.
