REDFIELD – A 22-4 scoring surge propelled Aberdeen Christian past Redfield Monday night.

The Knights, who won their seventh straight game, secured a 64-48 non-conference boys’ basketball victory.

Leading just 42-37 late in the third period, Christian scored 11 unanswered points to highlight a scoring run that left the Knights with a commanding 64-41 lead midway through the final period.

“We did a better job pushing the tempo and were able to get to the rim on the break,” said Christian coach Matt Rohrbach.

Brooks Jett scored back-to-back baskets to get the pivotal run started and seven different Knights scored during the outburst.

Jett finished 20 points, Ethan Biel followed with 16 including four 3-pointers, and Luke Kaiser added 13 points.

“Ethan had it going again tonight,” Rohrbach said. “Always fun to get everyone in the game.”

Redfield’s Ruben Alvarez poured in a game-high 33 points, including four 3-pointers, a couple from well beyond the three-point stripe.

“He had a great night,” Rohrbach said. “Could definitely shoot from deep.”

Christian improved to 15-4 on the season and concludes the regular season against Class A Groton Friday night at the Aberdeen Civic Arena.

“Should be a great atmosphere,” Rohrbach said. “Looking forward to the challenge of playing them. They are a good team.”
