The final stop on the road to Spearfish takes place for Class A girls’ basketball teams with SoDak 16 contests scattered throughout the state.

Here is a capsule look at each game involving area squads:

Mount Vernon-Plankinton (18-4) vs. Aberdeen Roncalli (16-5), 7 p.m. Redfield

There is a lot of familiarity between these teams, and it has more to do than a double-digit win over a common opponent, Redfield.

MVP and Roncalli faced each other last season in the SoDak 16 with the Titans gaining a trip to the state tournament in that one.

Each squad has a Northern State recruit on its roster, Reagan Rus for MVP, and Ava Hanson for Roncalli. Opponents tonight, teammates next season.

When the Cavaliers hold teams under 45 points, they are undefeated this season, winless when they don’t. MVP has scored 45 points or more 16 times this season, so that could be a number to keep an eye on.

Sisseton (15-7) vs. Hamlin (18-3), 7:15 p.m. Watertown

There will be no secrets here as these two Northeast Conference foes battle once again.

Both are no strangers to postseason success, Hamlin having won the State A championship three years ago, and Sisseton finishing third in the last two state tourneys.

Hamlin won a previous encounter by 13 points in late-January, but won’t own the home-court advantage in the rematch.

The Chargers enter tonight’s contest having won 13 of their last 14 games. Sisseton, which lost four of its first seven games, has won 8 of its last 10 contests.

Expect plenty of intensity in this matchup.

St. Thomas More (15-6) vs. Mobridge-Pollock (17-3), 7 p.m. Faith

While these two squads have not faced each other this season, there is a bit of commonality.

The two shared a common foe in Winner late in the season with STM defeating the Warriors by 13, and Mobridge-Pollock falling by 11.

The Cavaliers lost three of their first five to start the season and have twice as many losses as MP, but STM played a solid schedule and lost by just three points to unbeaten Mahpiya Luta.

The Tigers, who fell in the SoDak 16 a year ago, also faced a challenging schedule which included the likes of unbeaten Class B Centerville.

Miller (18-4) vs. Sioux Valley (18-4), 5:30 p.m. Madison

On paper this appears to be an evenly matched contest. The two teams have identical records and have not faced any common opponents.

Miller has played six teams that are among the Class A and Class B SoDak 16 fields. The Rustlers enter tonight’s game having won seven of their last eight.

Meanwhile, Sioux Valley brings a seven-game winning streak into the contest. The Cossacks’ four losses have all come against squads competing in the Class A So16, including three of the top five teams in the final poll in Sioux Falls Christian, Dakota Valley and Hamlin.
