MILBANK – Aberdeen Roncalli finished with two of the top three places and earned second as a team at the Milbank Invitational golf tournament on Thursday.

“Great start of the season and great playing by the girls today,” said Roncalli coach Jon Murdy. “Happy to see the work the girls have been doing is paying off.”

Madison won the team title by two strokes led by medalist Madi Rummel who finished with an 80.

Roncalli’s Mackenzie Wegehaupt was runner-up with an 81, followed by teammate Claire Crawford with an 83.

“Very happy for Mackenzie today,” Murdy said of the eighth-grader. “She is starting to believe that she can play well.”

Sisseton’s Kenzley Heath was fourth, and Groton’s Carlee Johnson was fifth, both with rounds of 86.

Other Roncalli golfers in the top dozen were Ava Danielson in eighth with an 89, Grace Seyer in 11th with a 95, and Morgan Helms in 12th with a 95.

“Biggest thing is we know what we are doing well and what we need to improve on,” Murdy said.
