CLEAR LAKE – Deuel won both team championships, while Aberdeen Roncalli finished third in both divisions during the Park Chop Relays track and field meet on Tuesday.
The Cavaliers won three events in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions on the day.
“Overall, we had a good day,” said Roncalli coach Mark Stone. “We were grateful for the nice weather and we had not been to Clear Lake for a track meet before. We had some good performances today in the jumps, our relays and hurdles.”
Roncalli’s Isaac Price won the pole vault, and the Cavaliers won the boys’ 800-meter and 1,600-meter relays. Parker Grieben and Aiden Fisher were members of both of those squads. Brody Weinmeister, who ran on the 1,600-meter team, was also second in the triple jump, and Grieben was second in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Gabby Thomas won the long jump and the triple jump for Roncalli, while Addison Cassidy topped the field in the 800-meter run. Maddie Huber finished second in the 100-meter hurdles, and Hazel Kannegieter was runner-up in the 400-meter dash.
“We are making progress and moving in the right direction,” Stone said. “About six weeks from now the state track meet will be over. So we’ll keep working hard and getting better each day and each week.”
