A group of area players earned first-team status on the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association all-state boys’ basketball teams announced today.

That trio includes Class B Player of the Year Bryon Laue of Castlewood, Wesley Wittler of Sully Buttes, and Class A first-teamer Easton Neuendorf of Hamlin.

Here is a capsule look at each area player that earned all-state recognition, followed by the entire list:

CLASS B

First Team

Bryon Laue, Castlewood. “Bryon is a once in a lifetime type of player for any high school coach to have. He’s a dominant force physically on the floor,” said Castlewood coach Paul Raasch. “He controlled the paint on both ends and I believe is the best rebounder in South Dakota. Bryon’s most important contribution to our team was his leadership and focus on our goal to win a title. He dedicated himself to that goal and led our team all year long, keeping them focused and playing together.”

Wesley Wittler, Sully Buttes. “Wes is one of the most competitive people I’ve ever met – a true gamer,” said Sully Buttes coach Brian White. “He consistently rises to the occasion; he is willing to take big shots and do whatever his team needs to win. His stats prove he’s one of the state’s best, and his leadership on and off the court confirms it.”

Second Team

Jamison Keszler, Castlewood. “Jamison had a great year. He’s a player that can create his own shot which made him extremely tough to guard,” said Castlewood coach Paul Raasch. “What really took Jamison to the next level this year was the poise and mental toughness he showed on the court. And as our point guard it was infectious to the rest of our team and a key reason we were able to win the title.”

Leola-Frederick’s Noah Kippley, center, tries to drive around Aberdeen Roncalli’s Sam Larson, right, during a game this past season in Frederick. Looking on are the Titans’ Zander Hoffman, back middle and Roncalli’s Sam Franks, back far right. At far left is Roncalli boys backetball coach Dan Gallagher. Photo by John Davis taken 1/9/2025

Noah Kippley, Leola-Frederick. Kippley finished with 1,280 career points, the most in the Leola-Frederick co-op history. “He was the focal point of opponents’ defense, able to score in a variety of ways and from all areas of the floor,” said Leola-Frederick coach Brock Pashen. Kippley was the MVP of the Lake Region Conference this season.

Third Team

Aberdeen Christian’s Brooks Jett, center, goes up with a shot between Freeman’s Luke Miller, left and Luke Peters, right, as Tate Sorensen looks on at far right, during an afternoon’s session of the South Dakota Class B Boys Basketball Tournament at Wachs Arena. Photo by John Davis taken 3/21/2025

Brooks Jett, Aberdeen Christian. “He embodies everything that ACS basketball is all about. He is hard working, a great teammate, and cares about more than just stats,” said Christian coach Matt Rohrbach. “He deserves his recognition for all he has helped our team accomplish this season. The future for him is bright beyond just basketball.”

Honorable Mention

Wolsey-Wessington’s Moshe Richmond, right, moves to the basket as Aberdeen Christian’s Ellis Russell, left, defends during a game this past season at the Aberdeen Civic Arena. Photo by John Davis taken 1/14/2025

Moshe Richmond, Wolsey-Wessington. “Moshe has been a three-year starter for us and an important part of success we have had in basketball. His athleticism creates excitement in any game he is a part of,” said Wolsey-Wessington coach Hayden Hooks. “It’s been a privilege to see his growth on and off the court.”

CLASS A

First Team

Hamlin’s Easton Neuendorf, center, goes up with a shot as Milbank’s Sam Rick, right, defends during a Class A SoDak 16 game this past season at the Watertown Civic Arena. Photo by John Davis taken 3/11/2025

Easton Neuendorf, Hamlin. “Easton was a four-year starter. He was our leading scorer this year averaging 15.4 points per game while also contributing 6.9 assists per game,” said Hamlin coach Todd Neuendorf. “He was the motor that ran our car.”

Third Team

Groton’s Ryder Johnson, center, puts up a shot over Aberdeen Christian’s Grady Jett (22) as Brooks Jett (4) looks on during a game this past season at the Aberdeen Civic Arena. Photo by John Davis taken 2/28/2025

Ryder Johnson, Groton. “He is a very talented young man who does a lot of things for us on the floor, but what makes Ryder special is who he is off the floor,” said Groton coach Brian Dolan. “There isn’t a more respectful, caring, good-hearted young man in the state. Because of those characteristics he will accomplish anything he wants to after his basketball career is complete.”

Hamlin’s Evan Stormo, center, moves to the basket between Milbank’s Ryan Keeton, left and Esteban Abrego, right, during a Class A SoDak 16 game this past season at the Watertown Civic Arena. Photo by John Davis taken 3/11/2025

Evan Stormo, Hamlin. “Evan was our second-leading scorer this year averaging 13.2 points, and our second-leading rebounder averaging 3.6,” said Hamlin coach Todd Neuendorf. “Evan scored both inside the paint and from behind the line.”

Miller’s Isaak Hunter puts up a shot against the defense of Moshe Richmond of Wolsey-Wessington during a game in Wolsey this past season. Photo by Benjamin Chase/Huron Plainsman

Isaak Hunter, Miller. “Isaak is a versatile scorer and a playmaker on both ends of the floor. His ability to play both inside and out at a high level were showcased this past season,” said Miller coach Dustin Lanke. “His rebounding and ability to find an open teammate add to the invaluable traits he brings to our program. It has been fun watching him make strides as a player and I believe his best basketball is still ahead of him.”

Sullivan Felberg, Clark-Willow Lake. “This kid has only scratched the surface on how good he can be. He has all the characteristics to be one of the good ones,” said Clark-Willow Lake coach Jerome Nesheim. “He has a true passion for the game and is a complete gym rat. He is able to score at every level of the game and is able to play all positions.”

Honorable Mention

Carson Vavruska, Florence-Henry. “Carson was an amazing player. His best part is how much he loved playing basketball and competing hard,” said Florence-Henry coach Will Roe. “Probably the best finisher at the rim I’ve seen. An amazing shooter and great defender for his size.”
