Smittys walk, run past Tea Area for baseball win

TEA – The Aberdeen Smittys walked their way onto base and then ran their way around the bases in a high school baseball win on Saturday.

The Smittys took advantage of 16 walks and then collected 24 stolen bases on the way to a 12-5 victory over Tea Area.

Karson Borge led the aggressive attack with seven steals while Grant Beyer followed with five.

Beyer opened the scoring with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. The Smittys then scored a pair of runs on passed balls before Ridley Waldo delivered a sacrifice fly.

Aberdeen scored three more runs in the second frame, two coming on steals of home.

The Smittys added two more steals of home among their other runs.

Borge also had two hits, including an RBI single in the seventh, to go along with three runs scored. Beyer also had a pair of hits.

The Smittys are back in action today when they Rapid City Stevens as well as Tea Area.
