W-I-N defeats Howard, Redfield falls twice

CANOVA – Chays Mansfield finished with four hits, including two doubles and a triple, and drove in five runs to power Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern past Howard 9-4 in high school baseball on Sunday afternoon.

Mansfield had an RBI triple in the first inning, drove in a pair of runs with a double in the fourth, produced an RBI single in the sixth, and capped off his day with a run-scoring double in the seventh, as W-I-N remained undefeated on the season.

Alec Mikkelsen added three hits, while Devon Fischbach and Logan Fischbach each contributed a pair of hits.

REDFIELD – The Redfield Muskrats dropped a pair of games on Sunday, falling to Rapid City Central 9-5, and to Clark-Willow Lake 14-2.

Rapid City set the tone with four runs in the top of the first inning, before tacking on three more in the third.

Jacksan Rude had a pair of hits to pace Redfield.

Clark-Willow Lake pulled away from a close game with six runs in the sixth, and five runs in the seventh.

Damien Severson had three hits for CWL, and Ky Vandersnick drove in three runs, two on a double in the sixth.

Josh Kannegieter struck out nine batters over six innings in the victory.

Zach Bonin’s double was one of three hits for Redfield.
