SIOUX FALLS – O’Gorman showed Tuesday night why its the top-rated squad in Class AA girls’ basketball in a 78-40 non-conference win over Aberdeen Central.

The Knights shot a blistering 60 percent from the field on the way to their seventh win in eight games so far this season.

“It’s tough to overcome that kind of shooting,” said Central coach Mikayla Arechigo. “We also played without Taryn Hettich. We really missed her on defensive rotations, especially transition defense.”

Mahli Abdouch poured in 25 points, Hannah Ronsiek added 22 points, and Bergen Reilly tossed in 11 for O’Gorman.

Central was led by Kyra Griese with 13 points and three steals. Taryn Hermansen contributed nine points and seven rebounds.

The Golden Eagles, 1-10 on the season, will host Brandon Valley at 3 p.m. Saturday at Golden Eagles Arena.

“It will be nice to have three days of practice to prepare for our next game,” Arechigo said.
