Don Hansen Press Release

BROOKFIELD, Ill. – The Don Hansen Football Committee released the 2021 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America teams on Monday. Two Northern State University football student-athletes were honored in first teamer Chance Olson and honorable mention team member Dewaylon Ingram.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.

Olson led the NSIC and was second in all of NCAA Division II with seven interceptions on the season, returning them for a total of 181 yards and a touchdown. He ranked second on the team with 80.0 total tackles and added 3.5 tackles for loss, six pass break-ups, and two fumble recoveries. He broke the single game school record with his 100-yard interception return for a touchdown versus Bemidji State and the single season school record for interception return yards. Olson was named to the AFCA All-America second team, CoSIDA Academic All-America team, and the NSIC All-Conference team earlier this season.

Ingram led the Northern State receiving front in 2021 with 1,161 total yards and 14 touchdowns. He averaged 17.1 yards per reception and 105.5 yards per game. The wide receiver broke the single season school records for total receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. In addition, he ranks seventh all-time in reception touchdowns after just one season. Ingram was named to the NSIC All-Conference second team earlier this season.
