ROSCOE – Fourth-rated Aberdeen Christian continued its winning ways with a 73-33 Lake Region Conference boys’ basketball victory over North Central Tuesday night.
The Knights jumped out to a 19-4 first-quarter lead and were never threatened after that.
“I thought our guys moved the ball well tonight,” said Christian coach David Rohrbach. “We looked for the extra pass all game long.”
The Knights nailed 11 three-pointers on the way to the win.
Jackson Isakson led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points, while Ethan Russell and Malek Wieker each added 13. Andrew Brennan and Blake Rich each scored seven points and Abe Holscher contributed six.
“I would lilke to see our defense more attentive to detail,” Rohrbach said. “We fouled too much in the first half, but we’ll try to tighten that up. However, it was nice to get a win and get a lot of guys involved on the offensive end.”
Bryce Beitelspacher scored 11 points to lead North Central. Colton Mohr followed with eight and Chris Marschalek added seven.
The Knights, 12-2 on the season, host Northwestern in another Lake Region Conference doubleheader on Thursday at the Aberdeen Civic Arena. The girls play at 6:30 p.m. and the boys around 8 p.m.
“We will need to take care of the ball and control the game,” Rohrbach said. “They look to cause turnovers and try to speed you up. They play with a lot of energy and if they hit shots can be a tough out. We’ll need to come ready to go.”
