The Aberdeen Central boys’ sprint medley relay team currently ranks third in the Class AA track and field leaders this week after setting a new Watoma Relays record last week.

The squad comprised of Gabe Johnson, Carter Dingman, Drew Salfrank and Josh Martin ran a time of 3:37.38. Only Spearfish and Brandon Valley have faster times in the state this spring.

Sam Rohlfs continues to lead AA in a pair of events. The senior tops the field in the long jump and triple jump. He broke the all-time state record in the long jump at a meet in Huron earlier this spring. He is also third in the 200-meter dash and tied for fourth in the 100.

Martin currently has the third best times in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs, while Aiden Heimann ranks in the top five in both hurdles races, sitting fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles, and fifth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

The Central boys are also fifth in the 1,600-meter relay. Members are Heimann, Johnson, Dingman and Salfrank.

Ciara Frank continues to lead the Central girls. She is second in the high jump and eighth in the long jump.

Taryn Hermansen has the fourth best throw in the shot put.
