SISSETON – Track and field athletes from across the region found their way to the top in a variety of events during the Sisseton Twilight meet on Friday.
Aberdeen Roncalli had a big day recording one personal record after another.
“We had 25 PRs across the board between the boys and the girls,” said Roncalli assistant coach Terry Dosch. “We had seven kids that had season records for them.”
In all, the Cavaliers won seven events on the girls’ side and five in the boys’ division.
“Our jumpers had a really good day,” Dosch said. “Morgan (Fiedler) had season bests in the long and the triple. Jayden (Munroe) won the long and the triple. Austin Meyers had a PR, Brody Weinmeister had a PR in the jumps. Maddie Huber had a PR in the triple.”
Fiedler also won the 200 and ran on the winning Class B 400-meter relay squad.
Redfield’s Camryn Rohlfs also had a memorable day, winning the Class A 100 and 200, the long jump and also running on the winning 400-meter relay squad.
On the boys’ side, Groton’s Andrew Marzahn won four total events. He won the Class A 100-meter dash and also ran on the winning 400, 800 and sprint medley relay squads.

Dosch said there was some solid competition on the day, in a meet which was separated into two divisions.
“There were a handful of schools from North Dakota. Lisbon always has strong track and they were there,” Dosch said. “There was some pretty decent competition.”
The Cavaliers will compete in the Northeast Conference meet on Thursday in Britton.
Dosch said the conference meet is much different than some of the others throughout the regular season.
“There the goal is you try to score as many points as you can and finish as high as you can,” Dosch said. “So maybe you kind of spread kids out, maybe you break up some relays to see if you can score a few more points as individuals and still garner some relay points. You hope some kids can put up some pretty decent marks that maybe will still slide them into the top 24 (state qualifiers) and then the following week is the region. It is definitely go time.”
