The Aberdeen Smittys will play at Mitchell to open the State A American Legion baseball post-season playoffs.

The Smittys, who had their games at Pierre on Monday canceled because of the extreme heat, enter the playoffs as the 14th seed and will face third-seeded Mitchell.

The first game will be at 6 p.m. Friday, game two will be at noon Saturday, and if a third game is needed in the best-of-three series it would take place at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Aberdeen, 22-21 during the regular season, dropped a pair of games at Mitchell earlier this summer.

Other first-round matchups have 15th-seeded Sturgis at top-seeded Brookings, (13) Spearfish at (4) Brandon Valley, (12) Watertown at (5) Sioux Falls East, (11) Sioux Falls West at (6) Rapid City Post 320, (10) Yankton at (7) Harrisburg, and (9) Pierre at (8) Renner. Second-seeded Rapid City Post 22 is an automatic qualifier to the State A tournament as the host of the event. Huron failed to qualify for the playoffs.
