WATERTOWN – Aberdeen Central’s Peyton Brust shot a 74 to earn a fourth place finish at the Watertown Invitational golf tournament on Tuesday at Cattail Crossing.
The Golden Eagles finished sixth as a team with a total of 325, one stroke behind Yankton. Aberdeen Roncalli was ninth at 337, one stroke behind Mitchell. Milbank Area was 12th with a team score of 379.
Watertown’s Jake Olson was the medalist with a three-under par 69.
Central’s Cole Brust and Roncalli’s Sawyer Henrich both finished in a tie for 30th after shooting 83s.
There was a log jam at 33rd place with 84s that included Central’s Carter Blanchard and Rylan Dykema, and Roncalli’s Finn Anderson and Jesse Hernandez.
Milbank Area was led by Jonathan DeBoer who finished in a tie for 46th with an 86. Roncalli’s Andrew Gerlach was one of the other golfers who tied for that same position.
Central competes in the Eastern South Dakota Conference tournament on Saturday at Hillsview Golf Club in Pierre. The Golden Eagles will then prepare for the State AA tournament Oct. 3-4 at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.
Roncalli and Milbank Area will both be competing in the Region 1A tournament Monday at Moccasin Creek Country Club. The State A tournament will be Oct. 3-4 at MCCC.
