Hitchcock-Tulare blanks De Smet to advance to 9B title game

TULARE – Hitchcock-Tulare accumulated more than 500 yards of offense on the way to a 48-0 victory over De Smet in the semifinals of the Class 9B football playoffs Friday night.

Carter Binger was the catalyst for the Patriots with 234 yards passing and a pair of touchdowns, and 122 yards rushing and three more TDs. He also led Hitchcock-Tulare with eight tackles.

Binger fired touchdown strikes to Cole Schroeder and Landon Puffer.

The Patriots, who finished with 522 yards from scrimmage, also received touchdown runs from Riley Fliehe and Erik Salmen.

Meanwhile the Hitchcock-Tulare defense came up with three interceptions, running its season total to 43 total turnovers.

The Patriots (11-0) will face unbeaten Herreid-Selby Area in the 9B championship game at 11 a.m. Thursday at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.
