TULARE – Hitchcock-Tulare allowed just three second-half field goals to pull away from Aberdeen Christian Monday night.
The Patriots led by 11 at the half before putting the clamps on the Knights in the second half for a 55-26 non-conference girls’ basketball victory.
Cambree Hoekman poured in a game-high 26 points to lead the win. She scored 10 points in the second quarter when the Patriots opened a double-digit advantage. She added eight more in the third period when Hitchcock-Tulare broke the game open. Hoekman also contributed seven rebounds and six steals.
Katelyn Schroeder added 16 points for the Patriots, including seven in the opening quarter as the host squad grabbed an early lead. Schroeder also dished out three assists.
Isabel Gilbert finished with seven points and a team-leading 10 rebounds for Hitchcock-Tulare.
Chloe Bosma scored 11 points to top Aberdeen Christian. Sophia Fogarty followed with seven, and Chloe Holt added six.
Knights coach Cristian Martinez said is young squad kept battling throughout the contest.
“We didn’t get the win for many reasons,” Martinez said, “but I’m so proud of how those girls fought all game.”
Christian is scheduled to have its final game of the regular season this evening hosting Langford Area at the Aberdeen Civic Arena. Tip-off is set for around 6:30 p.m. with a boys’ game to follow.
