Golden Eagles win five events at Pierre Legion Relays

PIERRE – The Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles won five events at the Pierre American Legion Relays on Monday. The Central boys won four of those events. The relay team of Aiden Heimann, Gabe Johnson, Carter Dingman, and Drew Salfrank captured the 1,600-meter relay title, winning with a time of 3:28.18. Heimann also won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of :40.28, while Salfrank topped the field in the 400-meter dash with a time of :50.63. The fourth and final win for the Golden Eagle boys came from Tyler Bain, who won the high jump with a leap of six feet. Central boys’ coach Greg Murley was impressed with many of his athletes’ performances. “Our throwers competed well for us today. We had three kids place in the javelin,” Murley said. “Jaxon Ladner (threw) 140-5 to place third. Brian Johnson set a new PR in the shot (put) with 48-9.50.
