Groton collects baseball victory over Wolsey-Wessington

GROTON – Tate Larson finished with four hits and Dillon Abeln threw a complete game two-hitter as Groton defeated Wolsey-Wessington 10-1 in high school baseball action Wednesday night.

Larson, who had RBI singles in both the fifth and sixth innings, had a double among his hit total and also scored two runs.

Abeln was in control the entire night, allowing just one walk and finishing with eight strikeouts.

After the visitors took the lead in the top of the first inning, Colby Dunker put Groton on top with a two-run single in the bottom half of the frame.

After adding a run in the third inning, Groton broke the game open with three runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth.

Ryan Groeblinghoff drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth, before Bradin Althoff had an RBI double, and Logan Ringgenberg drove in a run with a single in the sixth.

Althoff finished with a pair of hits and scored three times.

Jett Kleinasser had both of Wolsey-Wessington’s hits in the contest.
