Herreid-Selby Area sweeps YTC championships

ONIDA – Herreid-Selby Area swept the team championships at the Yellowstone Trail Conference track and field meet on Thursday. The Wolverines scored 164 points to top the boys’ division and 159 points to win the girls’ division.

On the boys’ side, Herreid-Selby Area won six events, with Brayden Goehring and Brenden Begeman combining to win five of them. Goehring took home wins in the 110-meter high hurdles and 300-meter intermediate hurdles, as well as the long jump, while Begeman won the shot put and high jump. HSA’s Tanner Dryer won the triple jump.

Potter County collected wins in seven events, including Sean Seurer in the 100, Carter Luikens in the 400, Nicholas Schlachter in the 3,200, and Tanner Vandervorst in the pole vault. The Battlers also won the 800-meter, sprint medley and 3,200-meter relays.

Leola’s Dustin Wurtz captured a win in the discus, while North Central won the 1,600-meter relay.

On the girls’ side, Herreid-Selby Area won five events, including Brooklyn Helm in the 100, Jordyn Rossow in the high jump, and Breanna Jochim in the long jump. The Wolverines also captured the 400-meter and 800-meter relays.

Potter County won eight events, including five individual winners. Megan Seurer won the 200, Emma Schlachter won the 400, Peyton Stevens won the 800, Jadyn Ahlemeier won the 1,600, and Paige Ahlemeier won the 3,200. The Battlers also won the 1,600-meter, sprint medley and 3,200-meter relays.
