The Aberdeen Central boys’ 1,600-meter relay team did not have the fastest time at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays last weekend, but they did finish with the best time among squads in South Dakota.

The Golden Eagles clocked a time of 3:22.10, a new school record, and moved back into the top spot in this week’s Class AA leaders after falling from that position a few weeks ago. Members are Aiden Heimann, Gabe Johnson, Carter Dingman and Drew Salfrank.

Meanwhile, Central’s Ciara Frank continues to lead the Class A girls in the high jump and is second in the long jump.

Other Golden Eagles in the leaders on the boys’ side include Heimann (second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles and sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles), Salfrank (fourth in the 400), Tyler Bain (fifth in the high jump), Dingman (eighth in the 400), Brian Johnson (eighth in the discus), and the 800-meter relay team which is sixth.

Other Central girls in the leaders include Taryn Hermansen (second in shot put), Taryn Nieman (third in the discus), Regan Lust (tied for fifth in the high jump), and Grace Kuch (fifth in the javelin and sixth in the discus).
