HARRISBURG – Harrisburg set the tone early and rolled to a 15-0 softball victory over Aberdeen Central on Tuesday.

The host squad scored three times in the first inning, added nine more in the second, and then ended the game in the third inning with three more runs.

Macy Bryant had a pair of hits for Harrisburg in the second frame, knocking in three runs. Madelyn Ducheneux also drove in three runs in the victory. Madison Viel also had two singles.

Harrisburg finished with 10 hits in all. Meanwhile Cora Payne was in control the mound, allowing just three hits and striking out eight.

Ayrlie Waldo had two of Central’s three hits, including a double in the third inning. The Golden Eagles had runners on second and third in that frame, but could not get one across the plate.

“I’m proud of the girls for their respect for the game and their opponent,” said Central coach Cassidy Schaar. “Always looking for ways to improve from game to game, but also seeing so much growth in softball IQ each day.”

Central wraps up its regular season with a home game against Brandon Valley on Thursday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at Koehler Hall of Fame Field.
