Groton caps regular season with win over Hamlin

GROTON – Groton collected nine hits, took advantage of 10 walks and six errors, and rolled to a 12-2 high school baseball win over Hamlin Tuesday night.

Groton gradually built a lead throughout the contest, scoring once in the second inning, three times in the third on run-producing hits from Colby Dunker and Braxton Imrie, twice in the fourth, and then six times in the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule. Bradin Althoff and Cade Larson each had two-run hits in the sixth before Braxton Imrie ended the contest with an RBI single.

Dunker, Larson and Imrie had two hits apiece for Groton. Althoff, Larson and Imrie each drove in two runs.

Dillon Abeln struck out seven batters in four innings of work on the mound.

Groton will now head to regional action where it will face Sioux Valley in Redfield.
