Mobridge-Pollock sweeps team championship at Region 6A

MOBRIDGE – Mobridge-Pollock grabbed team titles in both divisions during the Region 6A track and field meet Friday. The Tigers racked up 267 to win the girls’ crown by 146 points over runner-up North Central. The Mobridge-Pollock boys finished with 184.5 points to edge Miller (171).

A pair of Mobridge-Pollock girls each had a role in four victories on the day. Ryli Thompson won the 100-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and ran on winning 800-meter and 1,600-meter relay squads. Faith Heil won the 800 and 1,600 runs, and was a member on first place 1,600 and 3,200 relay teams.

Sophia Overland won the 200 and also ran on the winning 400-meter relay team for the Tigers, and Jacy Netterville and Jayda Thompson each ran on three first-place relays. Emily Hatzenbuhler won the discus as Mobridge-Pollock captured 10 wins total on the day.

Miller received wins from Joanlei Baker in the shot put, Gracen Werdel in the high jump, and Paige Werdel in the long jump, and also won the medley relay.

North Central’s Kaidence Bulgin won the 110-meter hurdles and Peyton Schnabel won the pole vault.

Simon Fried powered the Mobridge-Pollock boys by winning the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, the pole vault and running on the winning 1,600-meter relay squad. Carter Hinsz won the pole vault, and the Tigers also topped the field in the 800 and and medley relays to go along with their 1,600 victory.

Miller received a pair of open championships from a pair of individuals. Pierce Baumberger won the 1,600 and 3,200, while Isaak Hunter won the 110-meter high hurdles and the triple jump. Other Rustlers who won titles included Kellan Hurd in the 400, Alex Schumacher in the 800, and Trevor Werdel in the discus.
